Information Regarding the PGCSP
Members will be expected to adhere to a number of laws, rules, and courtesies to operate inside of the community, as well as will be expected to operate with acknowledgement of the dangers provided with such a duty.
First and foremost, members will be expected to act within Section 494 of the Canadian Criminal Code, and be familiar with such when making a citizen's arrest. Members will be expected to announce the arrest as soon as possible, and to do so as soon as the crime is being committed. After such, you will be expected to try to work towards cooperation of the suspect, and, if the suspect is non-cooperative, obtain visual details or license plates. If the suspect attempts to use force against a member or another person, they are permitted to use reasonable self defense to protect themselves and others.
Secondly, a clean criminal record will be needed to be a member of the organization, as well as a mental wellness check to make sure the applicant is of a sound mind and moral to be able to assume the duties of Prince George Civil Safety Officer. This will include yearly renewals of these two checks, and members will be expected to keep a report of cases they are involved in, for prosperity and safety of members.
Thirdly, members will be required to take an eight week training course recommended by the RCMP, as well as renew their training yearly over the course of four weeks. This will be done within the free time of the member and at their ability to attend. Circumstances that prevent such will be heard individually before a consensus can be made. Alongside such, first aid training will be provided, alongside uniforms to denote members of the program.
Members will be expected to not solicit nor coerce through monetary means or through threats of violence. Such will be a no tolerance area.
Members will be expected to work within packs of three, and will be assigned times as well as routes that they will take, and be expected to coordinate or ask questions if there is confusion regarding such.
Information Regarding Infrastructure
Infrastructure projects will be focused on fixing and renovating already existing buildings rather than the new development of buildings, as a lot of our older parts of the municipality are starting to show their age. With such, to prevent further fires and disasters befalling Prince George, my efforts will be focused on the maintenance and repair of infrastructure in dire straits. A majority of the funding for such, which will differ project to project, can be obtained by provincial and federal funding. Taxes will not be raised for this endeavor, rather, smarter funding alongside curbing overambition will be had to make this work.
